INDO502: Majapahit Figurative Oil Lamp
A fine cast bronze oil lamp from the Majapahit era of East Java. The details on this intricate small piece are very good, depicting a woman holding something in her hand, and flames at her feet. This piece would have been excavated at some point, but the patina suggests years of touch and handling after it was out of the ground. Because the bronze is so old and brittle there is one hole near the bottom.
