AF529: Huge wire woven Knobkkeri

This is by far the largest Zulu or Shona woven wire Knobkkeri I have ever seen. The ball head measures 7" across the diameter. The wire weaving is very tight and well done using the combination of the three wire types; steel, brass and copper. The over all patina is good and dark from age and use. There is one spot on the back of the shaft handle that the wire is missing. This club comes mounted on a custom metal base.

Previously in the collection of Pentti Tolamaa.

23" Tall with a 7" Diameter head. 19th century, South Africa.    ....$2500.00
