PC401: Costa Rican Metate

Stone Metate with a large condor image from costa Rica. This large ceremonial grinding stone metate was carved out of a single piece of volcanic stone. It has been restored and put back together from being broken in about 12 pieces. The cracks are filled and colored, but slightly visible in some places, and there is a 1 1/2" chunk of replacement material on the bottom of the third leg. The top is smooth and worn from use.     

23 1/2" long by 15 3/4" wide and 10 1/2" tall. Circa 1000-1500 AD.    ....Sold
