AF561: Makonde Mask

A large and powerful Makonde mask with very strong Makonde features, mounted on a custom metal base. The large lips have a lip plug in the top lip, and there is raised scarification on the cheeks and forehead. There are remnants of the human hair that adorned the top in there rows. The overall patina is good and dark form age and use. The front part of the neck has a native filled in restoration.
